Salad Burnet is a charming, easygoing herb with fresh, cucumber‑scented leaves that bring a bright, slightly bitter lift to salads, sauces, herb butters and cream cheese mixes. Growing to around 60cm tall, it forms neat clumps of evergreen foliage and produces pretty little red button‑like flowers through summer. It’s a lovely plant to tuck into the herb bed, a mixed border or even a pot near the kitchen door. While the leaves are delicious fresh, they don’t hold their flavour well when dried, so this is a herb best enjoyed straight from the garden.
A hardy perennial, Salad Burnet is reliable, long‑lived and productive almost year‑round once established.
