Endive is grown much like other leafy salad crops and thrives both in the ground and in containers, making it a versatile choice for any kitchen garden. Mature heads such as ‘Fine de Louviers’ are slower growing and larger than many other varieties, taking around 2–3 months to reach full size.
For a steady supply of leaves from late spring right through into winter, sow little and often. Endive grows best in a sunny spot but will tolerate partial shade during the height of summer, helping to keep plants tender and productive.
