Cornflower ‘Red Boy’ keeps the relaxed, informal charm of traditional blue cornflowers but brings an unexpected twist with its deep pink blooms. The long, slender stems make it an excellent cut flower, lasting up to a week in a vase, and it’s a standout choice for annual meadow plantings. Bees and other pollinators absolutely love it.
For best results, grow in full sun and moist but well‑drained soil. The wiry stems may need a little support in exposed or windy spots. Deadhead regularly to keep the flowers coming through summer, but allow some blooms to set seed towards autumn — the dried seedheads provide valuable food for birds and often self‑seed gently for the following year.
A brilliant, easy annual that brings colour, wildlife and movement to borders, meadows and cutting patches.
