Cauliflower ‘Sicilian Violet’
Approx. 30 seeds.
A striking Italian heirloom producing vibrant purple‑violet heads with a sweet, nutty flavour and excellent nutritional value. The colour intensifies in cool weather and holds beautifully when cooked lightly. Plants are vigorous, reliable and well suited to UK gardens, performing best in fertile soil with steady moisture. Heads are medium‑sized, tightly packed and richly coloured — perfect for roasting, steaming or adding raw to salads for a splash of colour.
Sow from late spring through midsummer for summer, autumn and late‑season cropping. July sowings produce smaller, later heads but are still perfectly usable and ideal for extending the harvest. Germination takes 7–12 days. Plant in sun or semi‑shade, keep soil consistently moist, and allow around 45–60cm of space for strong, even growth.
