Amaranthus caudatus — Love‑Lies‑Bleeding
Approx. 100 seeds.
A bold, dramatic annual that brings instant movement and colour to summer borders. Love‑Lies‑Bleeding produces long, trailing tassels of deep crimson flowers that spill from tall stems, creating a striking, almost sculptural effect in beds and large containers. It’s one of those plants that looks far more exotic than the effort it takes to grow.
This variety is vigorous and easygoing, thriving in full sun and well‑drained soil. Once established it grows quickly, adding height and texture from midsummer into early autumn. The young leaves are edible, and the tiny seeds within the flower heads can also be used in the kitchen, making it both ornamental and useful.
Amaranthus caudatus is brilliant for adding drama to mixed plantings and works beautifully alongside grasses, cosmos, rudbeckia and other late‑season performers. It also makes an excellent cut flower, fresh or dried, with the tassels holding their shape and colour well.
