Mizuna is a versatile, fast‑growing leafy green with attractive dark green, serrated leaves on crisp white stems. Its flavour is gently peppery with a slight bitterness, making it brilliant in salads, stir‑fries, noodle bowls and mixed Asian greens.
It forms loose rosettes of leaves up to around 20cm long and is ideal for growing as a cut‑and‑come‑again crop, giving you repeated harvests of tender young leaves over several months. Mizuna can be sown through most of the year for near‑continuous picking, especially with a bit of protection in winter. It thrives in fertile soil and light shade, making it a great option for shadier corners where other salads might struggle.
