Scotch Bonnet chillies
Standard pack: 15 seeds
Definitely not for the faint‑hearted, reaching around 350,000 on the Scoville scale. Dating back to the 1700's these small, lantern‑shaped fruits (typically 2.5–4cm long) pack intense heat and a strong, fruity aroma. Removing the seeds can help reduce the spice, but even then they remain seriously fiery.
A staple of Caribbean cooking, Scotch Bonnets originate from Jamaica and are prized for their distinctive flavour — hot, yes, but also sweet, tropical and deeply aromatic. They’re essential in jerk seasoning, hot sauces and marinades.
Plants are naturally bushy and compact, reaching around 50cm tall, making them ideal for pots, greenhouses or a sunny patio. Like most chillies, they thrive in warmth, consistent watering and regular feeding once flowering begins.
