Nic's to sow list

Our top-notch seeds have been handpicked by our team of seasoned growers. With our rich experience and sharp expertise, we offer nothing but the best. Every seed we present comes from trusted wholesalers, ones we'd personally choose for our gardens. Because at the end of the day, if it's not good enough for us, it's not good enough for you! As well as germination testing every batch, Nic and Head Gardener Hazel are always sowing something for their gardens or the allotment and this collections is regularly updated to show you what's topping their "to sow" lists.

This month, May I’m sowing everything again. But there are three types of seeds I always focus on this month:
  • Succession sowing Lettuce, rocket, radish, beetroot, spring onions, coriander, pak choi and turnips. Little and often keeps the harvests coming. I'll probably do just a few more cabbage and caulis, because little and often is far better than trying to work out what to do with 17 caulis one week in the middle of August!
  • Fast flowers Cosmos, zinnia, ammi, calendula, nigella, nasturtium… the ones that fill every gap and make the garden look joyful by July.
  • Heat‑lovers French beans, runner beans, courgettes, squash, sweetcorn. These all prefer the warmth of May and will sulk if you start them too early.
 
There’s always something to sow, but these three groups are my go‑tos this month.
